Most competitions have strict limits. For example, a soccer bot might need to fit within a 25cm x 25cm x 25cm (or similar) dimension and weigh max 2.5kg. These limitations ensure a fair playing field and encourage practical engineering solutions.
Robots are often forbidden from dragging or grabbing the ball with any part of their body. Instead, they must use mechanical force, such as pushing mechanism, to move the ball down the field.
Bots typically require an onboard power supply
must be under 12.6V (3-Cell Lipo/LiOn)
for the robot’s batteries. The method of control also varies: some are remotely operated, while others are fully autonomous, relying on AI to control their actions.
The arena usually has a defined size, such as 8 feet by 4 feet, with a specific height for the walls that surround the field. There are also goalposts of a certain dimension. These specifications ensure consistency for all competitors.
